My journey: A "prison wife" story
Welcome to "My Story." Here, I share my personal journey as a "prison wife," a path I embarked on without guidance. This space was born from a need for understanding and support, a need I hope to fulfill for you too. You are not alone.

The beginning: christmas 2020
My journey as a "prison wife" began on Christmas of 2020. I stepped into this world knowing absolutely nothing, feeling lost and isolated. There was a desperate need for information, for a guiding hand, but I found little support or resources available, especially here in West Virginia. This experience, of navigating a complex system alone, ignited a desire to create a safe space for others facing similar circumstances. This website, West Virginia Prison Wives, is that spaceāa place where we can connect, learn, and support each other.

Three years of distance: growing stronger apart
One of the most profound challenges I faced was the inability to physically visit for three years due to COVID-19. It was an incredibly hard and long period, filled with longing. Yet, it was through this distance that our bond grew even stronger. Long-distance phone calls, video chats, and glass visits became our lifelines. The anticipation built, and when that first physical visit finally happened, tears flowed freely from all of us. It was a powerful moment that solidified our connection and taught me the true meaning of resilience.

You are not alone: finding understanding
My deepest hope in sharing "My Story" is that other women in similar situations will feel an immediate sense of "I'm not alone." I want you to know that there is someone who truly understands the unique challenges, emotions, and triumphs of being a "prison wife." When I started, I wished for someone to lean on, someone who truly got where I was coming from. Now, I aim to be that person for you. This space is designed to be a beacon of empathy and shared experience.
"Finding this community felt like finally exhaling. Knowing someone understands what you're going through makes all the difference."
